Emilee, This is my attempt of two new "Summer" Recipes! Let's keep cooking together this summer and trying new things. I love you!

Original recipe yield: 6 servings
INGREDIENTS
1 cup olive oil
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
1 lemon, juiced
2 tablespoons hot pepper sauce
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon tomato paste
2 teaspoons dried oregano
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
2 pounds large shrimp, peeled and deveined with tails attached
skewers
DIRECTIONS
In a mixing bowl, mix together olive oil, parsley, lemon juice, hot sauce, garlic, tomato paste, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Reserve a small amount for basting later. Pour remaining marinade into a large resealable plastic bag with shrimp. Seal, and marinate in the refrigerator for 2 hours.
Preheat grill for medium-low heat. Thread shrimp onto skewers, piercing once near the tail and once near the head. Discard marinade.
Lightly oil grill grate. Cook shrimp for 5 minutes per side, or until opaque, basting frequently with reserved marinade.
Oprah's Mar-a-Lago Turkey Burger
I saw this on Oprah and have been wanting to try it. I had never tried a turkey burger before so last night Emilee and I decided to give it a whirl. I actually like it and thought it was good to try something new. Of course my kids were wimpy and had just regular hamburgers but I did get Jason to try it with me.
Oprah's Top Picks for Summer

Oprah found a new favorite food when she tried this turkey burger at Mar-a-Lago, Donald Trump's private club in Palm Beach. "I believe [it] may be the best turkey burger in the entire world," she says. The Mar-a-Lago Turkey Burger will be permanently available at the Trump Bar and Grille in Trump Tower in New York City, open to the public for lunch and dinner. It will also be served during lunch in Chicago at Sixteen, the Trump International Hotel restaurant.
INGREDIENTS
1/4 cup scallions, thinly sliced
1/2 cup celery, finely chopped
3 Granny Smith apples, peeled and diced
1/8 cup canola oil
4 pounds ground turkey breast
2 Tbsp. salt
1 Tbsp. black pepper
2 tsp. chipotle Tabasco™
1 lemon, juice and grated zest
1/2 bunch parsley, finely chopped
1/4 cup Major Grey's Chutney, pureed Sauté the scallions, celery and apples in the canola oil until tender. Let cool. Place the ground turkey in a large mixing bowl. Add sautéed items and the remaining ingredients. Shape into eight 8-ounce burgers. Refrigerate for 2 hours. Season the turkey burgers with salt and pepper. Place on a preheated, lightly oiled grill. Grill each side for 7 minutes until meat is thoroughly cooked. Let sit for 5 minutes. Serve with a side of Mar-a-Lago Pear Chutney and your favorite toasted bread, pita or hamburger roll.

This pear chutney topping is the key to giving the Mar-a-Lago Turkey Burger that extra zing.

1/4 cup dried currants or raisins Preheat oven to 350°. Toss the diced pears with the cinnamon and salt. Bake on a parchment-lined cookie sheet for 10 minutes. Cool and mix with the chutney and currants or raisins.

Sounds yummy! I just checked out Emilee's blog and it is so cute! I can't believe how grown up she is! She has great taste in music! She is going to be one busy girl when she starts babysitting! Hopefully we will be able to steal her once in a while! You are such a good mom-look how good your kids are turning out! The next time I see you I need to ask you some questions about blurb.com.
It all sounds good to me. I desperately need some new summer recipes, I am in a serious food rut.

Kim, I am so impressed! I think both of your recipes sound healthy, and yummy. All my book club friends eat turkey burgers and love them. I am going to try, but I will have to find a way to trick Dad. He will dig the shrimp. You and Emille bring me such joy!
Kim, I'm so glad you posted the turkey burger from Oprah. I saw this Oprah but before I could get the recipe It got deleted off my DVR. Yea, I'm going to try it, and the shrimp sounds awesome I'll be trying it too :).
